Oliver Goes Off World

Oliver Goes Off World is a multimedia project that provides an active learning experience with technology. Space is a very far away and abstract concept. It’s a topic that difficult to really understand, especially for children. The project is made up of a fully illustrated and written children’s book and a mobile app that both work together to bring outer space to you.

The book and the app work together to create a practical and engaging learning experience to introduce young minds to what’s out there. With the use of augmented reality components, children can directly interact with space. This project pushes the boundary of traditional teaching methods and contributes to the next step in education.

Both the book and the app can work individually as learning tools. The book isn't dependent on the app and vice versa. The app can display augmented reality (AR) models without the book and provides another learning experience. But, the book is needed to unlock each of the AR components.

The Book
Both the book and the app can work individually as learning tools. The book isn't dependent on the app and vice versa. The app can display augmented reality (AR) models without the book and provides another learning experience. But, the book is needed to unlock each of the AR components.
Mobile App
The AR models can be viewed with or without using the camera feature. A space backdrop is used to isolate the 3D model so that it’s easier to see. Each page displays it’s own augmented reality component. Each AR has different information to offer then the book. This way the app can be used without the book. As the app scans through the book, each 3D model is unlocked. Each can be used after the trigger in the book activates without the book.
