The Buckner Home
Project 1 - UCO School of Design - November 2, 2021
Haleigh Savage
The goal of this project is to design a state-of-the-art home for the clients that meet their visual impairment needs while maintaining the integrity of high-quality design. The Buckner clients are seeking a safe home to raise their daughter in that allows for the application of teaching day in the life struggles for the visually impaired.
Two individuals residing in the home have been diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. While this disease does not block the entire vision field, it makes day-to-day life difficult to navigate. While designing the space, it will be important to keep in mind that the peripheral field is the key to sight. Using high contract color pallets and calculated lighting strategies, common struggles will be at ease.
